The Deerfield Fine Arts Commission will host a community open house on Tuesday, September 19 to showcase the 24 pieces selected for the 2017 Deerfield Public Art Program before they are put on display throughout the Village. The event will be held in the Library from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.
Multiple media are featured in this year’s selections. Artists from Deerfield include Caren Kaplan, Sara Kenward, Mary Longe, Kris Van Stockum, Penny Weinberg, and Susan Willis. Other Illinois artists include Sheila Anderson of Belvidere, Ceyda Aykan of Chicago, Matthew Csernansky of Chicago, Charlotte Kaplan of Wilmette, Jim Parks of Evanston, Janet Poppe of Highland Park, and Barbara Wagner of Northbrook. Additional featured artists are Emily Clanton of Greenville, South Carolina, Rosa Cruz of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, and Ryan Sandsion Montgomery of Austin, Texas.
The specific artwork selected for display were chosen from submissions by a very talented pool of artists and were reviewed via jury process. The Fine Arts Commission is responsible for reviewing artwork submissions and making a final recommendation. The artists have agreed to loan their works of art for public display for up to one year.
