Add color and discovery to your summer by participating in our Summer Reading Program, Reading Colors Your World. This year’s theme provides the opportunity for community members of all ages to be creative, try new things, explore art, and find beauty in diversity. 

Online registration for children and teens opens on Saturday, June 5 at 9 a.m. For full program details, including registration information, visit the Summer Reading Program webpage. No registration is required for the Adult program.

Children’s Program (Birth through Grade 5), runs June 5 – July 31:

Track your reading and complete fun activities to finish the program and receive an e-gift card to The Book Stall. All children who complete the program will be entered into drawings for one of three grand prizes. BONUS: All participants will vote to choose an endangered animal to sponsor from the Brookfield Zoo!

Teen Program (entering Grades 6-12), runs June 5 – July 31:

Whether it’s reading a book, watching a movie, listening to music, or painting a masterpiece, it all counts towards putting you in drawings for a variety of prizes (and one grand prize). All teens who complete the program will receive a gift card to The Book Stall.

Adult Program (Ages 18+), runs June 5 – August 31

Discover all that your library has to offer with Summer Reading Bingo. You’ll find new reads, explore our Library of Things, the Makerspace, and more. Each completed bingo earns an entry in the prize drawing. Bingo cards can be downloaded from the DPL website, or you can pick one up at the Adult Services desk (lower level).

Yard Signs! Share your love of reading with a free Reading Colors Your World yard sign. Pick up a sign (while supplies last) at the Library. We’d love to see you with the sign! Send a photo to [email protected].

Kindness Rock Garden! Celebrate the beginning of this year’s program by decorating a rock and adding it to our Kindness Garden, located near the building entrance. Rock Painting Kits will be available (while supplies last): Youth & Teen (beginning June 5); Adult (beginning June 21).
