Do you love the Library? Do you want to be a mentor for younger kids? Do you need community service hours? Stop by the Library anytime between Wednesday, April 1st and Thursday, April 30th and drop off a volunteer application! Teens going into 7th grade through the age of 17 are welcome to apply!
As a S*T*A*R* Volunteer you would be responsible for the Youth Services’s Summer Reading Program sign up table, where you would assist younger patrons with registering for the 3 month long reading program, organize sign up/completion sheets, and hand out prizes. You would also have the opportunity to work side by side with Youth Librarians at individual children’s programs at the Library. As a Big Buddy for the Book Buddy Program, you will meet with your Little Buddy readers for 45 minutes weekly to read aloud together, talk about the stories and share fun activities. It’s a fantastic opportunity to create a relationship with a younger reader and encourage the love of literacy!
