Listening to stories is often one of the things we remember most from childhood. A good story can change how we think and act. It can help us navigate the ups and downs of life. A good story can captivate us for years to come. And yet, storytime is mostly considered a kids activity. Well not anymore! We’re bringing back storytime for people of all ages with our NEW Real People, Real Stories series. Programs in this series will highlight ordinary people who have extraordinary stories to tell. And our first event, Last Chance Mustang with Mitchell Bornstein, will not disappoint.
Join Bornstein to hear the story of Samson, a wild mustang that was thrown into the domestic horse world. Years of abuse and neglect made him violent and untrainable. With such a dangerous temperament, Samson’s fate seemed inevitable, but his owners decided to make one final attempt at saving his life and hired Bornstein, who has 20 years of experience working with abused and difficult horses, to do the impossible.
A story of hope and redemption, Samson’s struggle to overcome the traumas of his past and Bornstein’s perseverance in the face of such difficult circumstances will resonate with people of all ages. Best part? Bornstein put together a wonderful slideshow of images chronicling his time with Samson.
If you love great stories, you won’t want to miss this one. Join us for the first Real People, Real Stories on Thursday, April 7 at 7:00 p.m. Be sure to register in advance to save your spot! Books will be available for purchase or you can check out Last Chance Mustang from our catalog.
