Dr. John Duffy is a clinical psychologist and best-selling author who meets on a daily basis with teens, their parents, and families. Dr. Duffy tackles many hard-hitting teen topics ranging from the pressure of school, to discussing tough topics, to drugs, to social media, just to name a few.
Besides being an expert on teens, Dr. Duffy is also nationally recognized as an expert in self-awareness, relationships, and parenting. His book, The Available Parent: Expert Advice for Raising Successful and Resilient Teens and Tweens, advocates making time in your day to spend with your child:
“Availability is being fully present, literally and figuratively, to some moments with your kids every day. You’re aware of your own buttons and issues, and can move them aside. You’ll enjoy your relationships, and manage the tough times much more easily. You’ll be a much better parent. That, you can do.”
Dr. Duffy is heard weekly on the Bill Leff and Wendy Snyder show on WGN Radio and is the regular parenting expert on the Steve Harvey show. He is also cited frequently in numerous print and online publications. Dr. Duffy will appear at the Library on Wednesday, September 28th, 7:00- 8:30 p.m., to discuss teens and their interaction with social media, and how parents can get a handle on what may seem like too much social media. There will be plenty of time afterwards for questions from the audience. Come and join us for what will likely be a lively discussion on what is going on in our teens’ lives! Register here!
