In episode four of the Deerfield Public Library Podcast, we had the great pleasure of interviewing State Senator of Illinois’s 29th District, Julie Morrison. Formerly the West Deerfield Township Supervisor, Julie has served the Deerfield community for years and discusses her career path, how best to get involved in local government, and how she gets some of her ideas for legislation (hint: visit her office!).
Other segments on our April show include information from Youth Librarian Julia Frederick about the Library’s new Discovery Kits available for checkout. Then, in our brand new segment, our “Local History Corner,” Librarian Anne Jamieson shares two hilarious springtime animal stories from Deerfield’s past. You really won’t want to miss the story of “Jerky the Squirrel.” The animal theme continues with our staff picks segment: Acquisitions Assistant Tom Walsh recommends The Heart of a Lion: a lone cat’s walk across America by William Stolzenberg.
We hope you enjoy episode four with Julie Morrison! Each month we’ll be releasing an episode featuring a conversation with a dynamic Deerfield leader. Learn more about the podcast on our podcast page.
