Do you love the Library? Do you want to mentor younger kids? Do you need community service hours? Stop by the Library April 2-May 6 and drop off a volunteer application! Teens going into 7th grade through the age of 17 are welcome to apply.
Not only will you have the opportunity to mentor younger children and share their excitement for reading, but this is also an awesome chance to test out the waters and gain job experience!
You’ll gain experience filling out an application, choosing references, planning a work schedule, and working in 2-hour shifts with a teammate or by yourself. You’ll be responsible for being on time for shifts and organizing materials needed for our Summer Reading Program.
S*T*A*R* Volunteer
As a S*T*A*R* Volunteer you would be responsible for the Youth Services’ Summer Reading Program sign-up table, where you will assist younger patrons with registering for the reading program, organize sign-up/completion sheets, and hand out prizes. You would also have the opportunity to work side by side with Youth Librarians at children’s programs at the Library.
Print out an application and return it to the Youth Services desk with a parent/guardian’s signature by May 6th!
Book Buddy Program
As a Big Buddy for the Book Buddy Program, you will meet with your Little Buddy readers for 45 minutes weekly to read aloud together, talk about the stories, and share fun activities. It’s a fantastic opportunity to create a relationship with a younger reader and encourage the love of literacy!
