April Kids Grab & Go Craft: Self Portraits!

I can’t believe it’s already April! The transition from winter to spring always has me appreciating the beauty of our planet. With Earth Day on April 22, this is the perfect time to think about more eco-friendly crafts and making use of what you have available!

This month’s Grab & Go kit is self-portraits, but with a twist! I’ve supplied you with kits that are made up of mostly items that we already had at the library. Take a look around your home and neighborhood and see what else you can use (with permission) to make your self-portrait as unique as you are. Some ideas include twigs, leaves, yarn, fabric, paper scraps, buttons, and whatever else you find!

Below, I have put together a list of titles about eco-friendly crafting and Earth Day. Feel free to reach out to the Youth and Teen Librarians at youthservices@deerfieldlibrary.org for more recommendations or to send pictures of your portraits!

Grab & Go kits will be available beginning April 5 while supplies last. Check back throughout the week as we refill our new Creation Station. These craft kits have a sticker indicating that it is a kids’ craft.
