Art Without Boundaries

April 1-30

A pause on our normal daily routines, fortunately, does not have to mean an end to creativity, so to celebrate April’s RWB theme: Arts and Crafts, we have an additional challenge for you: Art without Boundaries!

While the Library is closed, Read without Boundaries is still moving forward, and we encourage you to continue to update your progress through Beanstack. Prizes will be available after the Library re-opens. In the meantime, to celebrate April’s Arts and Crafts theme, we bring to you: Art without Boundaries! To complete the challenge, you will be submitting one work of art: if you’re a prolific artist, pick your best work! There are a variety of ways to complete this all-ages challenge in order to be eligible to win a special grand prize specifically for Art without Boundaries. Note: this is an all-ages program, and you do not have to be signed up for RWB to enter. Any questions? Email us at jgehin@deerfieldlibrary.org

To complete the challenge (three options):

  1. Create a project using Creativebug. Simply log in with your library card number to choose from thousands of arts and crafts videos. With your submission, please let us know which project you completed.
  2. Sign up for our Virtual Animal Drawing class with Cheryl Steiger, taking place on April 7 at 7:00 p.m. Join artist Cheryl Steiger as we learn to draw animals ONLINE using Zoom, with an emphasis on the construction of animal anatomy using pencil and paper. Sign up here: Animal Drawings with Cheryl Steiger via ZOOM During this class, you will be able to “raise your hand” virtually to ask questions! You will need a valid email address in order to sign up for this class and space is limited.
  3. Create a work of art using one of our online books, with the April RWB reading list as inspiration. Let us know which book inspired you!

***To qualify for the prize: submit a picture of your artwork to jgehin@deerfieldlibrary.org by May 3. Please indicate your age group: youth, teen or adult. All pictures will then be uploaded to the Library’s Facebook page for voting. Each “like” equals one vote! (You do not need to have a Facebook account to enter, and entries will be anonymous.) Have fun and good luck!
