In this episode of the Deerfield Public Library Podcast, we had the great pleasure of interviewing Mary Kubica, bestselling author of The Good Girl, Pretty Baby, and Don’t You Cry. Our patrons and staff were so excited to have her speak at the Library back in April. Before her program we sat down to record an interview about the themes that run through her books, the local Chicago and suburban settings in her novels, and her love of libraries. Mary also shares some info about her new book, Every Last Lie, coming out this June.
Other segments on our May show include info about the new Baby Garden in Youth Services from head of Youth Services, Meg Anthony. In our new “Local History Corner” we answer the question “What does Charlton Heston have to do with Deerfield?” Finally, this month’s staff pick: Readers Services Librarian Melissa recommends recent Pulitzer Prize winner, The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead.
We hope you enjoy our fifth episode with Mary Kubica! Each month we’ll be releasing an episode featuring a conversation with a dynamic Deerfield leader (or, in this case, a Library program presenter!). Learn more about the podcast on our podcast page.
