On this episode of the Deerfield Public Library Podcast, we talk with Charlie Meyerson, a longtime area “bringer of news.” Charlie is currently the proprietor of ChicagoPublicSquare.com, a free, daily email news roundup, with links relevant to Chicago-area news consumers. We had an illuminating conversation about the state of the media today. A great show for media consumers (that’s all of us) or budding journalists, we consider facts vs. interpretation, source attribution, and why “fake news” should only be used in quotations.
Charlie also visited us in June as a panelist for our program The Real Story Behind Fake News. If you missed it, you can watch the live recording below:

In our Library News segment, we’re highlighting a new online resource for patrons in the market for a car: Auto Finance Resource. With this resource, you get inside information on low rates for car loans. Access Auto Finance Resource from inside the Library here or from outside the Library here. Finally, I took over our Staff Picks segment in this episode, recommending the new novel by Percival Everett, So Much Blue.
We hope you enjoy our seventh episode with Charlie Meyerson! Each month we’ll be releasing an episode featuring a conversation with a dynamic Deerfield leader (or, in this case, a library program presenter!). Learn more about the podcast on our podcast page.
