Community Resources and Assistance

Although the library is closed for the foreseeable future, we want to provide Deerfield residents with as much support as possible during this time. Below are a list of resources in case you need assistance (financial, transportation, food pantry, etc.)

Village of Deerfield Information and Assistance:
Village Hall: 847-945-5000
Police Department (non-emergency): 847-945-8636

West Deerfield Township Information and Assistance
You can contact the West Deerfield Township at 847-945-0614 or info@westdeerfieldtownship.org.

If you or someone you know needs assistance (financial, transportation, food pantry, etc.) call the West Deerfield Township office. They are still conducting business and answering phones.

Transportation Program Updates: Due to the COVID-19 threat, transportation services through the Township are only available to residents (seniors and individuals with disabilities) who require transport to dialysis or chemotherapy appointments. For more information, or to register for transportation (all riders must register in advance) contact the Township office.

The library will be offering free one-on-ones and check-ins for senior citizens and adults with developmental and physical disabilities. These one-on-ones can be provided via phone, email, or Skype, and you do not need to be a Deerfield Library cardholder to receive this service. If you have any questions about this service, or if you or someone you know might benefit from a library lifeline call, email Vicki at vkarlovsky@deerfieldlibrary.org.

We have also extended the reach of our wifi. The Library’s wifi internet can now be accessed safely from your car in our parking lot.

Are you in crisis? Please reach out.

U.S. Small Business Administration
(800) 659-2955 or disastercustomerservice@sba.gov

If you own a small business, run a private non-profit, or are self-employed in Lake County facing financial hardship due to coronavirus (COVID-19), the U.S. Small Business Administration has been authorized to start making low-interest disaster loans available.

Want to help?

The West Deerfield Township Food Pantry is currently seeking donations! There is a cart outside the township office where donations can be left, and they are checking it regularly (601 Deerfield Road). In addition to food donations, they welcome gift cards to Walgreens, Jewel, or Walmart. You can also make monetary donations and get more information about their wish list through their website.

The United Way of Lake County has established a fund to help those impacted by the coronavirus outbreak.

The State of Illinois has an on-line volunteer clearinghouse with information on how to help.
