The Library is pleased to announce that Curbside Pickup is now available to Deerfield Public Library cardholders beginning June 9. Our staff has been working hard to develop a safe and simple process for you to get some new library materials! You’ll now be able to place holds on library materials, including new DVDs and Blu-rays and our Lucky Duck collection. Some items will not be available at this time, including Baby Bundles and most of the Library of Things collection, including board games. This service is limited to 10 items per card.
In order to make this process as safe and organized as possible, we will be opening this service in phases. Beginning June 9, patrons who had holds ready for pickup when the library closed in March, will be able to pick up those holds. Beginning June 16, Curbside Pickup will begin for all Deerfield Public Library cardholders.
The process is simple. Search our library catalog and place a hold on your item. When your hold is available, you’ll receive an email with a link to schedule your pickup time. We are offering limited times as we debut this new service. On July 6, we increased these pickup times to Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and Tuesday, Thursday from 4-7 p.m.
You can also email reference@deerfieldlibrary.org to ask for an item(s) to be placed on hold and staff will place the hold for you. If you miss our recommendations, please check out our Staff Recommendations page.
We’ve also begun accepting returns! On July 6, we increased the hours we will accept returns. We will accept returns on the following days and times:
- Mon, Wed, Fri: 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
- Tues, Thurs: 4-7 p.m.
While the building has remained closed since March 13, we have been actively providing virtual library services since then. While we cannot be certain library items are 100% virus-free, we are following CDC recommendations, and we are taking precautions to prevent cross-contamination. Library materials are currently being quarantined for 7 days before being re-shelved. We are also following social distancing guidelines in the building as well as limiting the number of staff present. Staff is required to wear masks while working. We are also limiting the number of pickups per pickup window to prevent large gatherings.
