The Digital Media Lab contains equipment for converting older storage technologies into digital files.
The following mediums can be scanned or recorded:
- 8mm and Super 8 film
- Audio Cassette
- Film (35mm film strips, 35 mm mounted slides, medium format strips 6×22)
- Photographs up to 8.5″ x 11.7″
- VHS Tapes
- Vinyl Records
Requirements and Policy
To use the Digital Media Lab, patrons must be at least 14 years of age and have their Deerfield Library card when they sign into the room. Patrons must also bring their own USB flash drive or have their own internet-based storage account to save any desired files.

The Digital Media Lab can be booked up to one month in advance by calling the reference desk at (847) 580-8933 or by scheduling online. If the Digital Media Lab is not in use, walk-in sessions are allowed.
