On this episode of the Deerfield Public Library Podcast, we sat down with Dr. Michael Lubelfeld, the superintendent of District 109, Deerfield’s elementary schools. We discussed the challenges of raising our young citizens in a changing world and how Deerfield is managing that task. Mike also talked about his recent book with co-author Nick Polyak, The Unlearning Leader, which focuses on how today’s leaders need to connect for success. Listeners should also check out District 109’s new podcast, “Sound Around 109”.
Library news this month highlights an author visit from Elizabeth Rynecki on October 8, 2:00 – 3:30 p.m., to discuss her fascinating memoir and documentary project Chasing Portraits, which traces her quest to find the paintings of her great-grandfather, artist Moshe Rynecki, that were lost during World War II. Rounding out our episode, Elisa, our Youth Development Collection Librarian, recommends a beautiful new children’s book, Grand Canyon by Jason Chin, which brings the geological history of the Grand Canyon to life.
