After you’ve checked out the Magritte show at the Art Institute, and the David Bowie exhibit at the Museum of Contemporary Art, there is one more hot art show this fall you will not want to miss. Mark your calendar because it is one night only and, no kidding, it is in Deerfield!
The Deerfield Fine Arts Commission will host an art open house on Thursday, September 18, to showcase the 24 pieces selected for the inaugural year of the Deerfield Public Art Program. The event will be held in the Library from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.
Multiple media are featured in the collection, including sculpture, fabric art, mixed media, photography, water color and oil paintings. Artists from Deerfield include Ruth Hecht, Deepak Jose, Caren Kaplan, Barbara Wagner, Kathleen Warren and Susan Willis. There are also artists from Highland Park, Libertyville, Lincolnshire, and Wilmette.
The selected art will be displayed for one year in public buildings including the Deerfield Village Hall, Public Works, Deerfield Public Library, Deerfield Park District, and the West Deerfield Township building.
