Happy October everyone. Recently, I’ve been trying to expand my musical repertoire and explore new musicians/bands I’ve never listened to before. Spotify and Bandcamp have been two incredibly useful tools in my exploration. Every recommendation is a brand new album from the selected artist, and each artist represents a different style of music, so there may be a little bit of something for everyone to enjoy. I invite you to listen to each artist and join me in music exploration. For each album recommendation, I have provided a YouTube link to a song from that particular album. ARTIST: Little Simz

Little Simz (aka Simbiatu Abisola Abiola Ajikawo) is a 27-year-old, British rapper returning with her 4th studio album. What impresses me the most about Little Simz is her ability to keep a great flow. She raps with speed and passion while touching upon topics of femininity, introversion, conflicting thoughts, and more.

ARTIST: CAVS
ALBUM TITLE: CAVS (2021)
This album is purely percussion. From beginning to end, you are taken on a percussive journey through different tempos and energy. This album is layered with rhythm and grooves. CAVS is also the drummer from King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard and is from Melbourne, Australia.

ALBUM TITLE: 01 (2021)
This album has a deep sentimentality caked in its layers of chill electronic beats. As the album title suggests, this is Black Fly’s debut album and has been in the works for about 4 years. I highly recommend this album if you are looking for music that bridges the gap between chill and catchy.

ARTIST: Bad Waitress
ALBUM TITLE: No Taste (2021)
This album has convinced me that punk rock is not dead. This all-female punk band comes from Canada and listeners can hear the energy their first LP brings to the table. This is their first album and if you like headbanging punk, then you may enjoy this album.
