We are pleased to announce the installation of a water bottle filling station at the water fountain on our upper level, just outside the restrooms located at the Library’s entrance. We hope you’ll use this new filling station because…
You Can Save the Environment!
Using a refillable water bottle is better for the environment, as many disposable water bottles simply get thrown out. According to the EPA, Americans generated 33 million tons of plastics in 2014, about 13 percent of the waste stream. Only 9.5 percent of plastics were recycled in 2013. Of course, you can also refill disposable water bottles at the station, and when you’re done you can recycle at one of the blue containers in the Library.
You Can Save Lots of Money!
Refilling a water bottle is much less expensive than constantly buying bottled water. If you were to replace 200 bottles of water a year (about 4 per week) with free refillable water, it would amount to an annual savings of $300!
You’ll look Cool!
Carrying a reusable water bottle says “I’m trying to save the planet”, and that style looks great on everyone!
Speaking of water, if you need some during the July 4 parade, you can stop by the Library lobby (11 a.m. – 2 p.m.) for a refill, and also for restrooms and a place to sit and cool off. We will have a limited supply of Deerfield Public Library refillable water bottles to give away, and also a limited supply of disposable water bottles for those in need.
