July Library Service Updates

Since DPL closed the building on March 13, the staff have worked tirelessly to pivot and continue to offer services to the community. Are you one of the 6,500+ online views of our virtual programs for adults and kids? We are pleased to see how popular e-books and other e-resources have become with the community, and temporary library cards are available for our digital resources. Also, the staff is available to answer questions via live chat and reference.

In June, we started safely accepting returns for the nearly 21,000 items that have been checked out from the Library. We also began offering Curbside Pickup. This popular contactless service allows us to serve approximately 240 patrons per week. We began quarantining returned library material for seven (7) days. Based on updated independent research, on June 29, we will begin quarantining returned items for three (3) days.

Upcoming expansion of services include:

July 3: Books to Go will resume deliveries. This free monthly service serves those homebound due to illness or limiting physical conditions.

July 6: Curbside Pickup service will increase the hours available for pick-up slots. This will be noted on the email alerting you when your holds are available.

July 6: Grab & Go Craft for kids of all ages will be available outside the Library. Watch our website for more information.

Staff is still hard at work preparing the building to allow for people to return while maintaining social distancing and other safety measures. We will have staff available for extended chat hours in July. Later in July, we will be opening the Library building for computer use by appointment. There will also be access to our fax and copy equipment.

Library staff remains committed to safely assisting the community. We will continue to post updates on the Library’s website and social media and will share via our e-newsletter

At this time, we are unable to accept book donations.
