Join DPL’s year-long reading challenge for teens and adults, Read Around the World! Let’s see how far you can travel in 2022.
In this challenge, we will read about diverse locations, topics, and authors. Monthly reading challenges will be based on the world’s 24 time zones. Our first list, available January 2, will “take place” in zones -6 & -7 UTC (coordinated universal time) which includes a large portion of the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. We’ll quickly travel west, heading around the world. By May we will be in Japan and South Korea, by August we’ll arrive in Ethiopia and Saudi Arabia, etc. Each month will incorporate the entirety of two major time zones.
Check out our monthly reading list for book recommendations, located on the Read Around the World webpage as well as at the Adult Services Reference Desk. Then, log your monthly progress online here or turn your completed form in at the reference desk. Feel free to choose a suggested title or another title, as long as it fits the time zone of the month. There is no limit as to how many books you can read. Visit the reference desk for your passport (optional), and have your passport stamped each month to mark your progress!
Monthly prizes will go to those “most traveled”: one page read = one mile traveled! Reading lists will be available when the challenge starts on January 2, 2022. Register to receive updates about the reading program.
Visit the reference desk or our website for further details.
Happy travels!
